In the town of. A regular meeting of the Business Council in the Textile Sector was held in Smolyan

On 11.03.2023 at 12:00 in the town of. The regular meeting of the Business Council concerning the Textile sector in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan was held in Smolyan on 12.03.2015.

Five representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan attended the meeting. The meeting of the Textile Business Council was held in the Hall of the Municipality of Krasnodar. Colonel Serafimov № 2, floor 2, town of Gdansk. Smolyan. It was technically equipped with multimedia, laptop, printer, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Manual of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 Programme. In addition, disinfectants as well as water, coffee and tea were provided to secure the coffee break of the event.

The moderator of the event welcomed all the participants and made a brief presentation of the Rules of Procedure of the BS in the Textile sector. After that, a free discussion on the issues of the BS members was started.

A member of the council presented data from recent studies that the textile industry provides 4.5 billion exports, which is equivalent to 11% of Bulgaria's exports.

Our country has a long tradition in the textile industry, which is decisive for the high quality of the products produced. Accordingly, the demand for Bulgarian production is increasing. Hence the most serious problem of the textile industry in our country, namely the lack of qualified labour.

As council members in other border districts have shared, the lack of skilled workers is among the main problems for the development of our country as a competitive force in the textile industry.

In connection with the above, those present at the meeting decided to prepare an information campaign in the form of brochures, which, with the help of the local authorities, would be distributed in educational institutions in the district and thus raise the profile of the career opportunities offered by the textile industry.
