On 07.04.2023 at 17:00 in the town of. A regular meeting of the Business Council concerning the Textile sector in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan was held in Kardzhali, the activity is implemented under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" funded by the INTERREG V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020 Programme, Subsidy contract № B6.3a.18/13.04.2021.

Eight representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan attended the meeting. The meeting of the Textile Business Council was held in the hall of the association "Europe in Dialogue", in the town of Krasnodar. The meeting was held at the Council of Europe in Business, Kardzhali. It was technically equipped with multimedia, laptop, printer, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Manual of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 Programme. In addition, disinfectants as well as water, coffee and tea were provided to secure the coffee break of the event.

The moderator of the event welcomed all the participants and made a brief presentation of the Rules of Procedure of the BS in the Textile sector. After that, a free discussion on the issues of the BS members was started.

The topic of the free discussion revolved around the consequences of the pandemic caused by Covinid 19. In contrast to the negative repercussions that the pandemic has given in almost every sector of our country's economy, the textile industry has seen an increase in sales and demand for its products. During the pandemic, a large number of companies reoriented their production and started making protective clothing for a number of medical institutions at home and abroad. The high quality of the production was a prerequisite for the increase in orders and demand for finished products.

That's a big plus for the area's economy, per industry representatives signaling a lack of skilled labor and turnover in the sector. Many of the well-trained personnel are looking for livelihood abroad or in the larger towns of our country.

The project management team shared their experience in organising awareness raising campaigns to stimulate the interest of young people. The team undertook, together with local government representatives, to produce brochures to be distributed in educational institutions and youth clubs in the district.
