A regular meeting of the Business Council in the sector of renewable and energy sources in the border regions of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan was held in Blagoevgrad, as the activity is implemented under the project "Business Council - BC 6275" funded by the INTERREG V/A GREECE-BULGARIA 2014-2020 Programme, Subsidy contract № B6.3a.18/13.04.2021.

Five representatives of the RES sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan attended the meeting. The Business Council meeting started on time in attendance mode. The meeting was held in Hall 1, ul. "Todor Alexandrov" - town of Kiev. Blagoevgrad. The hall was technically equipped with multimedia, laptop, printer, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Manual of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 Programme. The moderator of the event welcomed all attendees and kicked off the event by taking a short detour to introduce the new members and brief information regarding the BS Rules of Procedure in the RES sector.

A focus of the free discussion was the challenge of connecting power plants to the grid. In relation to the requirements that the EU has - by 2026 all new public and after 2029 residential buildings must have PV systems on their roofs, the council members expressed their concerns about the burdensome grid connection procedures laid out in the Bulgarian regulations.

A member of the council made a comparison with the procedures provided for in the law here in Bulgaria and those in Germany. He shared his experience gained from years of working abroad and his disappointment with the lack of assistance and clearly written rules in our country.

Against the backdrop of a growing sector and increased demand, it is necessary to take swift and effective action to support small and medium business owners.

In relation to the above, it is necessary to hold a number of meetings with the authorities at local, regional and national level and to discuss changes in the regulatory framework to help the development of the renewable energy sector.

Unfortunately, in the complex political environment in which the country finds itself, problems of this type remain unresolved for a long time.

The project management team committed to make efforts to present the council's requests to the local government representatives and to organize meetings with them to listen to the suggestions and requests of all stakeholders.
