On 21.03.2023 at 16:00 in the town of. The regular meeting of the Business Council in the sector of Materials and Technologies in the border districts of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan was held in Haskovo.

The meeting was attended by five representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. "Knowledge" hall in the town of Krasnodar was engaged. The meeting was held in Haskovo. The hall was technically equipped with multimedia, laptop, printer, microphone(s) and sound system, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Manual of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 Programme. In addition, disinfectants as well as water, coffee and tea were provided to secure the coffee break of the event.

The moderator of the event welcomed all attendees and made a brief presentation of the BS Rules of Procedure in the Materials and Technology Sector. After that, a free discussion on questions from the BS members was started.

The focus of the free discussion was on the lack of qualified staff in the sector. The members of the BS briefed the project management team on the current situation in Haskovo region. It turns out that not a small share of the industry is accounted for by enterprises that manufacture vessels and machines for the food industry.

And here is one of the main problems that all priority sectors have in all project areas, namely the lack of skilled labour.

The council members expressed their opinion that one of the ways to tackle the labour crisis is dual training - through a massive information campaign in educational institutions in the district, young people who want to work and develop in their hometowns can be attracted.

Those present at the meeting decided to seek assistance from the local authorities and together with them and the educational institutions in the district to organize open days to present the activities of the enterprises that will participate.
