A regular meeting of the Business Council of the Textile Sector was held in S. Smilyan

On 25.03.2023 at 09:30 in the village of. The regular meeting of the Business Council concerning the Textile sector in the border districts of Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Kardzhali and Smolyan was held on 09.00.03.2015.

Five representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan attended the meeting. The meeting of the Textile Business Council was held in the Community Hall "Prof. Asen Zlatarov 1927", c. Smilyan. It was technically equipped with multimedia, laptop, printer, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials, according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Manual of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 Programme. In addition, disinfectants as well as water, coffee and tea were provided to secure the coffee break of the event.

The moderator of the event welcomed all the participants and made a brief presentation of the Rules of Procedure of the BS in the Textile sector. After that, a free discussion on the issues of the BS members was started.

The focus of today's meeting was on the waste generated by the textile industry. The sector is extremely well developed in the district and there are many small and medium-sized enterprises that contribute to the development of the economy in the district.

The representatives of the sector present expressed their fears of environmental pollution if the local authorities do not react and take adequate measures for the treatment of the waste generated by the enterprises.

The project management team undertook to work with the local authority to prepare a short information campaign in the form of leaflets listing tips on the correct treatment of textile waste to be disseminated to local businesses and thus reduce the negative impact on the environment.
