The meeting was attended by five representatives of the sector from the border regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad and Smolyan. The meeting room of Banite Municipality was engaged. The room was technically equipped with multimedia, laptop, printer, microphone(s) and sound system, as well as information boards, banner and presentation materials according to the requirements of the Communication and Publicity Manual of the Interreg V/A Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 Programme. In addition, disinfectants as well as water, coffee and tea were provided to secure the coffee break of the event.

The moderator of the event welcomed all attendees and made a brief presentation of the BS Rules of Procedure in the Materials and Technology Sector. After that, a free discussion on questions from the BS members was started.

Those present at the meeting shared with the project management team the potential that the municipality of Banite has for the development of the timber industry.

More than 60% of the municipality is covered by forests, but the council members are of the opinion that logging can be further developed and provide a living for a small part of the municipality's population.

In relation to the above, however, the problem of lack of skilled manpower emerged as one of the major issues registered by the team during the conduct of the BS meetings. The work is hard, the terrain is difficult to access and the often difficult conditions prove to be an insurmountable problem.

The council members suggested that an information campaign should be carried out, together with the local authorities and job centres in the municipality, to attract young people to train and develop in the sector.
